Welcome to "Settle Down, Martha" a blog I've created to post my ramblings on a day-to-day basis. There are those who say that blogging is set to die in or around 2K7 or 2K8. I agreed with them when I first heard this prediction about six months ago. Between my own lack of motivation to blog, the death of many blogs I held dear, such as Unlovely and... well, really just Unlovely, but others were dying as well, such as SuperSteve and BFJ (Bowling for Jesus).
Through it all, three main constants remained... www.section-9.ca (in various forms), Suburban Peril and of course, Joey Michaels. This sample is taken only from my daily surfing habits, not the Interweb® in general.
This remained constant until a couple of weeks ago when Section-9's run on the web came to a close. It was a decision that TheRich and I didn't take lightly, but after examining all the pros and cons, the time was right. Go out on top, right?
So I thought about using my LiveJournal for my posting needs, but it just seems too limiting. After seeing the new blog of LosRicos and No Talent Hacks I realized Blogger is where it's at!
But I know, you're asking yourself, where the hell did he come up with the name "Settle Down, Martha"??? Last night, Peaches and I (for the uninitiated, Peaches is my wife) went to return some Christmas gifts that were a bit loose on me (sweet!) and shopping for a new digital camera (the Canon PowerShot A630 is the leader of the pack right now- hopefully getting it tonight or tomorrow!!!). While driving, I pulled out this voice of an old man and began jokingly berating her driving, casting her as my old man's elderly wife. Peaches would undoubtedly turn around with a huge grin on her face looking to slap me and I was compelled to shout "Settle down, Martha! Keep your eyes on the road!" Because of this bit of fun, this site was born. I hope you enjoy, and I hope I post more here than I did on LJ. Later days. (Oh yeah, did I mention I finish each post with 'later days'? I didn't? Well I do.) Later days.
